Book Contents.png

I'll be publishing my second photographic book this year (the first, a limited edition, is sold out) covering my travels within the Orient, S.E. Asia and N.W. Asia over the past 5 years.

See a screenshot of the original contents page on the left.

The format (fluid, as the design progresses) will be

120-130 pages, though the way it's going there may actually be more !

The book is designed as a 'coffee table tome' and as such will be 11" high and 14" wide

the spine will be of the 'lay-flat' style it will enable photographs to be up to 28" wide ! Less margins and text.

It's expected to contain roughly :

  • 150 Full colour Photographs (landscapes, portraits, architectural, street, bird, wildlife & underwater shots, many of UNESCO sites)

  • 20 Black & White Photographs

  • 15-20 'Tall Stories' about the treks, camping or general experiences encountered

  • Details of each shot (camera, lens, ISO, aperture, shutter speed & any extra measures taken).

The sub-title will list the countries visited :

  • China  (my adopted home for the past 26 years)

  • Nepal  (4 trips to both the roof of the world, the Everest region, the Annapurna region and to the lush lowlands)

  • Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek, Karakol, and numerous days spent trekking and camping in the Tian Shan mountains).

  • Japan (2 trips to Kyoto including for the stunning Momiji Autumn plus side trips to Osaka and Tokyo)

  • Cambodia (extensive drives to the far boundaries of the Angkor Archaeological Park as well as Angkor Wat, Siem Reap and Ton Le Sap lake)

  • Malaysia (Sabah in Borneo & Taman Negara in Peninsula Malaysia)

  • Bhutan (birding in remote high regions and visits to Thimpu, Paro, Punakha, Yongkola, Chele La and Bumthang)

  • Myanmar (Mandalay, Bagan, Kalaw, Mt Popa & Inle Lake)

  • Thailand (concentrating on the Chiang Mai region with side trips to Phuket and Bangkok).

Some of the regions / cities visited in China include :

  • Yunnan

  • Qinghai

  • Guizhou

  • Huangshan Mountain

  • Inner Mongolia

  • Shanghai

  • Beijing (camping and hiking the rarely visited wild sections of the Great Wall)

  • Wenzhou

  • Houtouwan : the abandoned ghost village of  on an island off the coast of Shanghai/Ningbo

  • Wu Yuan

  • Wuxi

  • Xi Kan & Xi Keng

  • Zhangjiajie

  • Zhou Shan Islands

  • Jiuzhaigou

  • The watertowns of the Shanghai region

The title name is taken from my blog title which writes about an 8 night hiking/camping trip to remote unmaintained sections of the 'Wild Wall' (so called as these sections of the Great Wall are dilapidated  (having signs warning people not to venture on them) and in their original condition, not rebuilt as the most oft visited and popular sections of the Wall.
